The US military plans to achieve 3 gW of Solar power by 2025

Repost from Greentech media by Herman K. Trabish | May 17, 2013

The US military has commitment to convert to 25% of its energy requirement to renewables  by 2025.  Its energy bill reaches $20 billion a year, making it the largest energy consumer in the govt. and single biggest energy consumer in the world.

Solar energy has proven to be cheap and effective in battle field situation, even in Afghanistan.  Use of solar in remote battlefield location has lessened its dependence on conventional fuel from 20 gallons a day to only 2.5 gallons per day.  Liquid fuel costs $l per gallon and $399 to transport it to remote bases. You could just see how expensive conventional fuel are?

We are all aware that Rommel lost the battle of El Alamein because his fuel tanks were leaking and he ran out of fuel during the battle

Could this be strategic?  Cutting off fuel supplies could hamper a military capability in remote areas. Scharwzkopff, MacArthur were great believers in supply chain warfare.  No army can fight without full stomach and full supplies.

We are aware

The Navy and Air Force both have completed installations of renewable energy sources and plan to exceed their targets.
