Can the process of photosynthesis be used to produce electricity (supplant the traditional solar panels) Solar energy production is only 12 to 17% efficient. However photosynthesis would approach 100% efficiency. Researchers at U of Georgia have discovered a system/process to redirect electrons generated in photosynthesis to generate electricity instead of producing sugar.
Interventions can be made at thykaloids which are responsible for capturing energy from sunlight. A lot more research would be done before this idea/concept can be commercialized.
