Solar paint a possibility?

Repost from Clean Technica by Tina Casey | May 15, 2013

A team of researchers at University of Buffalo in New York is studying the possibility of a solar paint to further lower the cost of solar cells.   PV cost has gone down by 80% since 2008.  But the goal of the Obama administration is to further lower the cost of PV energy, since the l/2 of the cost is installed cost.

Several options are now available:  like spray on glass solar particles, and 3d printing which may cause downfall of solar companies.

If solar particles can be painted on, the cost of installations can be reduced/eliminated thus further lowering the cost of PV.  The circuitry can be left to technicians/electricians.

The new technology uses organic particles, long polymers of carbon vs the inorganic or silicon based particles;  they are less expensive and can be used in glass manufacture or painted on;   they however low sunlight to electricity conversion rate.  To be competitive, it must reach a l0% conversion rate. Plasmonics  could be deployed to reach the conversion rate.
