Welcome to AREP (Alternative Renewable Energy in the Philippines) site - it is PERA spelled backwards

If spelled backwards, AREP is PERA (money!)  This site is also about money - saving money.

Ever since I had a guest on Alternative Energy who discussed RA 9513 of 2008,  I started to have  a very keen interest on alternative energy.

With the prospect of brown outs (as what had happened to the term of CA and FVR) and the ever increasing cost (PHL has the highest power cost in Asia), new alternative energy sources of energy must be found or we must adopt these modern technologies now.

One of the most feasible now is solar.   There are solar installations in USA where the cost of generation is at l2 cents/kw.  Wow.  Solar costs have gone down by as much as 50% during the last 4 years and therefore has become a feasible alternative energy source.

Oil or coal might run out in the next 30 years.   The higher cost of power/fuel reflects  the decline in supply of fuel.

If you are on solar power and the LCOE is PHP 6.00/kwhr, then its going to be that amount for the next 25 years.   It wont change no matter what the price of fossil fuel is.
