Ethanol bad for the engine? Is Biofuel act a good act?

From "Demand and Supply by Boo Chanco" at Philstar   |  April 5, 2013

The column today criticized the Biofuel Act of 2006 whose author is running for senator and whose family owns sugar cane plantation in Mindanao (supplier of raw material for ethanol)  But the buzz now is that alcohol in gasoline is harmful for high performance engine of cars.  (I was advised too to get pure, more expensive alcohol)  For the same reason AAA in USA petitioned EPA from fully implementing the l0% ethanol content  of blended gasoline.

Blended gasoline is supposed to save gasoline supply;  however the potential harm are as follows:

l.  "Napapanis ang gasolina"  . Your car will not run properly

2.  It can ruin your fuel pump and your car will just stop and you do not know the reason.

3.  The engine will fail and/or not run smoothly.

These are personal experiences.
