Tidal Power Project in Swansea UK

Savings from oil and coal importation

Repost from Clean Tecnica | by Nicholas Brown | June 1, 2013

I am a fan of tidal power.  The rise and fall of tide is constant and it will continue as long as moon is still there.  There is a lot of wasted tidal power in the PHL which can be harnessed for cheap power, rather than hydro or fossil fuel plants.  Even the Napindan channel, and the channel between Samar and Leyte is churning with tidal currents.

One such project is that of Alstom having contract for a 250 megawatt, 650 pounds million tidal power plant in Swansea UK.  It is expected to provide all baseload requirements of all the homes for 16 hours a day and save 200,000 tonnes of carbon emission a year for 100 years
