Cost of solar panels ex China to fall to $0.42 in 2015?

Savings from oil and coal importation

From Green tech media | by Stephen Lacey | February 4, 2013

What is the current price of  solar panels now? The price is down from $8.00/watt to only $0.90 in 2011.   Jaaf's price is $1.40.  The inverter  and the mounting add to another  $2.l0 per watt.

The price will fall down to $0.42 in 2015  .  It is now at $0.48.  Wow.  The current price (maybe volume is one half of the retail price) The installer and retailer, they make about l00% profit.

My fellow professor would introduce us to Sec of Energy of China today

Metro Manila | May 15, 2013

A professor, colleague at a leading graduate school of business in MM, will be introducing me to the Sec of Energy of China.  He arrived last Saturday for his master's degree.  My colleague is mentoring the said China official for the master degree.

We would meet at noon time today at a Chinese restaurant in a CBD nearby.  This was initially planned this PM, for merienda.

What would be the opportunities in this meeting?

l.  Reliable, competitive suppliers from China

2.  Endorsement from high level official

3.  Travel/familiarization with alternative energy in China

4. Resources for large scale RE project, say in Mindanao? or even in Luzon grid (remember the outage last week -  the reserve was so thin that there was a cascading effect when the Calaca power plant tripped)

Installing solar RE at homes can supplant large power plants?

China to use curtailed wind power for heating

Repost from Clean Technica | May 1, 2013

China is to use curtailed wind power to heat homes.  Curtailed wind power is wasted power in excess of demand.  This is prevalent in Jan Li province where curtailed power amounted to 20,000 gwH, double of what was in 2011.  The wind farms are allowed to operate only for 1,400 hours, well below the l,900 hours for the industry.

The excess, curtailed power can heat 6.6 million homes for one hour,  277,000 homes in one day, and 761 homes in one year.

The use of curtailed power would have 3 benefits:

1.  Reduce air pollution.  Air pollution from burning coal, and heating homes from wood stoves has caused millions of death in China (WHO)

2.  Conservation of coal for other industrial use.  As a fossil fuel, coal is a scarce non renewable resource.

3.  Business for wind farms
