Homeowner experience of rooftop solar panels investment
Savings from oil and coal importation
1. Estimating the power requirements. and compatibility and availablility of matching inverters and controllers
2. Money traps - spending nearly a million to save thousands
3. Peak power production is when the homeowner is at the office
Advantages:
1. Saving on power costs;
2. No brown out, advantages for wfh guys....
But generally the advantages outweigh the downsides.

Problem with solar technology for RE
Savings from oil and coal importation
Its nice to know that some people cashed in solar and are billionaires. However, we have been hearing negatives about this and its good we did not go full time into this. (Although we had some installations)
1. It could be damaged by typhoon and stones thrown at rooftop especially in the province
2. Degradation over time 10% annually (you lose its effectivity in 10 years or less)
3. Fires
4. Difficulty with selling to the grid, esp to Meralco

Solar panel farm at Pinugay Baras Rizal
Savings from oil and coal importation
A lot of project for RE in Rizal; in Pililla, and now Baras Rizal. savings from fossil fuel. It is hoped that the cost of power goes down too.

Now is the time to go solar; prices are really down down
Philippines | May 6, 2013
Solar panel prices has really gone down. From $8.00/watt 3 years ago it was down to half of that last year (at $4.00/watt) The price is inclusive of design, inverter, controller and installation. The CEPALCO system cost $5.00/watt (the 10 mW cost $5 million dollars)
But I learned that the cost of PV only is $1.70/watt. Lately though, we had quotes of $0.90 only per watt. (So a 1 kw installation would be only P36t)
However, the inverter controller unit would cost approximately the same amount; so with the installation cost. This is the area for cost improvement.
