There must be a change in infrastructure in order to encourage ridership and use of bikes. This was the topic for master thesis of the author . The author favors off road bike paths, that do not intersect roads to which many bikers object; (many messengers?)
Now it is becoming clearer that the position of the author is correct.
May I make my own observation in the PHL or MM:
l. The air pollution levels must be lowered; otherwise we just kill the bikers;
2. There must be bike lanes;
3. There must be continuous education of drivers on rights of bikers
The current bike lanes suck:
The ones in a MM city has plenty of safety hazards: sticking rebars, posts at the bike path, uneven surfaces and located along parked vehicles and the cars doors unexpectedly open causing hazards.
There are many road hazards as well: steel grating that can catch the wheels and cause crashes falls accidents and injuries
