Green steelmaking process cuts costs, reduce emissions and increases metal purity

The old steel making process requires massive energy, emits a lot of carbon dioxide; the world produces about 1.5 billion tons of steel annually and each ton generates about 2 tons of CO2 as emissions.
It is alleged that steel making has been responsible for the denudation of forest, because of its huge demand for fuel.
A new process of producing steel has been discovered that reduces energy consumption
The old steel process involved firing iron oxide with carbon hence the high carbon dioxide emission. The new process involves molten oxide electrolysis and clever use of iron chromium alloy.
The discovery was discovered by NASA by accident during an experiment when oxygen was produced using metal oxide; it was found out that steel was produced in the process.
